Probably better to skip - the material doesn’t overlap or build very much. I had a 5 on AB (school didn’t offer BC), so I had to take 1910. It’s challenging, but you won’t be under-prepared for future courses if you just take the AP credit.

The only class that you should absolutely absolutely skip if you can is physics 1112.

@Prism123: Haha, thanks. I just read your explanation and I think it makes sense…or maybe it’s so early in the morning my brain is tricking me. Either way, thanks! =]

@jwright: Oh no, I actually felt I did better on AP Phys C: E&M than Mech this year. Totally wasn’t feeling the mech frq’s. Also, is Physics 1112 “easier” first semester or second semester? I’ll be taking it second semester because that’s the way it’s set up for my major, I think. And I guess by “easier” I mean “less competitive.” Thanks!

i took physics B and calc ab as a junior, got 5’s on both… so should i take the credit for phys 1112 or should i take the class to refresh?

In my experience I wished I had skipped. The class starts out quite basic - you’ll think it’s really easy if you did well in Physics B. It gets harder, but only that you cover a few topics that were not on the AP. I stopped going to lecture entirely after about the first month and got an A on both the final and the class. I’m not saying this in an attempt to brag, because I didn’t work tremendously hard and I’m not a physics major… but if you feel you have a strong background in physics you would do well to either skip the class or take the honors variant.

I can’t really recommend taking it 1st or 2nd semester. If you look up which professors are teaching it I can tell you about them. You might want to take it at the same time as 1920 as some of the material at the beginning overlaps (vectors, etc) and it would reduce your workload.

Thanks for all the help Prism123 =] and I’m an engineering major. As for the reason that I got a 4 instead of a 5 is because of stupid mistakes -_- I’m confident in my calculus and I think I’ll use my credits =] Thank you everyone

would you recommend skipping physics 1112 if i miraculously passed the AP, but barely learned anything in the class?

Depends what you’re majoring in. If it’s something like CS or OR, then don’t retake it. If you’re taking AEP or MechE, then retake.
