Hi! So I'm researching classes I want to take in the fall for freshman year; I'm thinking of majoring in computer science, which means I will have to take Math 21a and b at some point.

I want to take Math 21a freshman year fall, but I have only taken up to AP Calc AB in high school. I am thinking of self-studying Math 1b over the summer and reading up on Math 21a's material so I am ready.

What is covered in Math 1b? I tried looking online but none of the topics or assignments are listed. A list of the assignments and what chapters covered in which textbook would be REALLY helpful -- is there any way to get hold of that?

Thank you!

Hi, I think that you’ll find this link useful:

[MATH 1b, Fall 2012 § Mathematics 1b (Fall 2012-2013)](http://isites.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k87804#)

Although this is from fall 2012, I can’t imagine much changing for fall 2013. The Math dept. seem to be pretty good at giving detailed course information for many of their courses.

I hope that this helps :)

Hi superstar. Thanks for your response – the website doesn’t give much detail, but it’s better than nothing

Also, does anyone know if math 1b covers polar coordinates?

Math 1b does not cover polar coordinates. They will also have several sessions of “Which math should I take?” during orientation week that could help you
