So, I'm an incoming freshman and will be taking Math 256 straight off the bat this fall, in order to complete my math pre-reqs for CoE during freshman year. On the website however, it says the pre-requisite for Math 256 is 255, but 255 isn't even offered in the fall. My question is should I just go ahead with 256 and take 255 in the fall, or drop down to 216. Anyone else have any experience in taking diff eq before taking calculus III ?

Makes no difference, its easily doable

Most universities don’t require multivariable before Diffyq. If you do take diffyq, you will want to learn Integration by Parts(ridiculously helpful) and Double/Triple integrals(really easy, basically an integral inside of an integral :)) but other than that you should be fine for the most part

I have never seen Diff. Eq. spelled that way before but it made me laugh.

My child also took Diff Equations first, before Calc III, cuz Calc III was full–was told it doesn’t matter what order you take it in because they are not cumulative. If it bothers you, just go to a Calc III class the first few days and wait for someone to drop it (you will have to look at “all classes” not just “available classes” to see the Calc III’s that are full).
