I took distance calculus 2 and 3 through georgia tech with morley in high school. But I see that comp sci majors have to take calc 3 for comp sci(math 2605) , could I exempt math 2605 for 2401?

I doubt it but you can check however DS knows a bunch of CS majors that had to take 2605 after taking the regular Calc 3 at GT. DS took the regular Calc 3 spring term and that was one of the problems with not knowing if you are going to stay in engineering or changing to CS. He was told that if he changes his major to CS he would have to take the Calc 3 for CS.

Thanks! And wow that’s so stupid, what’s the point of math 2605 if someone already took calc 2 and 3…

does taking calc 2/3 help in any way for the class?

Pretty much in the same position and really frustrated since I just went through hell with calc 3. Professor was nuts lol. It seems though the for CS students calc involves programming projects in which we will actually have to program some theories or something like that… Here is an old syllabus I found online: http://people.math.gatech.edu/~aleykin3/math2605fall10/syllabus.math2605.pdf

I’m in the same boat. I have already taken calc III. I am Discrete Math major that will be double majoring in CS. I am prepared to have to take Calc III for CS

What!? There’s calc 3?!? Dl calc decisions come out this Friday and I thought after this year is be done with math lol

I have some outstanding news for everyone!!! After orientation yesterday, we were told by the advisors in the computer science that they will NOT make anyone retake calc 3 for CS students if they have received credit for calculus 3. What they said specially is that they don’t see why they would make us all retake it since the class only differs by about 20%! I hope I have made everyones day :)

^I just txted my son. He has already taken calc 3 at GT and he will be very happy he doesn’t have to take calc 3 for CS if he switches majors.
