Math/CS Match and Safety Schools

I already have an idea of all the reach schools for Math and Computer Science. As far as I can tell, they directly match up in order of overall prestige of schools (especially for math). As such, I really can’t tell if a school is ever a match or a safety for me. As for safety schools, I’m very happy with my two instate options. I already have a list of match and safety schools which I am trying to whittle down to under 13?

Anyways, any good match schools good at Math/CS? Being good at Art History is a major plus. As such, I’m thinking about EDing to either UChicago or Columbia.

Can anyone recommend match schools in particular? I am currently a junior.

Anyways, here are the obligatory stats and ECs and such so people have an idea.

SAT: 1530 (Math 800, CR/W 730)
GPA: (UW: 4.0; W: 4.5) (I just plugged in my grades into the UC GPA Calculator, I have no idea how other schools calculate GPA)
Class Rank: 5/450
Race: Asian Male lol

ECs/ Awards:
Math Team, Captain
Quiz Bowl, Captain
Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society)
SNHS (Science Honor Society)
Latin Honor Society

AIME Qualifier (2019, 2020)

Highest AMC12 Score in State (both A and B ) [Side note, I didn’t actually do very good. I got a 114 on both the AMC12A and B, and only got a * on AIME, so even if there were USAMO, I didn’t make it lol]

High School Math Team has placed in every major local tournament in state since 2 years ago

Consistently place top 5 individually in local math contests, Winner every now and then

Consistently place top 5 individually in local NAQT tournaments (invited to IPNCT for the past two years, if that counts for anything)

Member of State ARML Team since 8th grade. I am a part of City Math Circle’s teams that competes at Duke Math Meet, HMMT Feb, etc. (We occasionally place in some of them)

AwesomeMath, PACT(if anyone knows what that is)

(Research Awards)
1st Place SCJAS Mathematics Category (2020)
2nd Place SCJAS Mathematics Category (2019)
2nd Place Science Fair Mathematics Category (2020)
2nd Place Science Fair Mathematics Category (2019)
2nd Place Computer Science Category JSHS (2020)

Volunteering stuff (not much of it tbh):
Part of Bengali Organization that helps organize religious festivals (maybe, 10 hours per year, for the past 10 years lol)
Math Tutor (1hr a week, for the past 3 years)
Volunteer at local Art Museum (I LOVE Art History)

Hobbies (if this counts for anything):

Comic Book Collector (mainly Tintin and Asterix); I went to Europe last summer (mainly because my parents forced me), but also to to find some collect some more books; I’d say that this takes up a non-trivial portion of my time

I have a website where I talk about art I’d recently seen or films I recently watched. It started as a way for me to stay motivated for quiz bowl, but it definitely means more to me than just quiz bowl now. Though, it doesn’t really have that many visitors, so I’m not sure I’d even mention this.

Here are my current list of schools (very reach heavy, I know). I just need to replace some of the prestigious ones with schools where I actually have a chance.

Georgia Institute of Technology (Computer Science / Mathematics)
University of Chicago (Computer Science)
Cornell University (Mathematics/CS)
University of Michigan (Mathematics/CS) (LSA)
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign (Mathematics + CS)
University of Pennsylvania (Mathematics)
Pomona College (Mathematics)
Columbia University (ED: Mathematics)
University of Maryland - College Park (Math/CS)
Duke University (Statistical Science)
University of California - Berkeley (Mathematics)
University of California - Los Angeles (Mathematics)
Clemson University (Math/CS)
University of South Carolina (Math/CS)

Have you talked to your parents about budget and run the net price calculator on each college’s web site?

Yes, I have. We’re paying close to full tuition for all of the colleges, but my parents are willing to pay. Obviously, I would like to have some cheaper options, which is why I applied to both state flagships.

Are you from California? If so, then why U.South Carolina?

In terms of cost, if you are from California and would prefer to be less than full pay for the OOS and private schools, the obvious ones to suggest are more of the U. of California campuses.

You have a lot of reach schools. Your stats are great and I think that you have a chance for any of them. It is not obvious how to cut the list down other than maybe to look at the cost of each and wonder about the value to cost ratio of each or to consider just where you would prefer to be.

I’m from South Carolina.

RPI would be a match.

“I’m from South Carolina.”

This explains USC, which should be a safety.

The universities of California (Berkeley, UCLA) would be full pay for you.

Another school that comes to mind which would probably be a safety with your stats is McGill.

I have wondered if you have considered MIT (look at 18C as a potential major). It would be a reach of course.
