You should go to MIT. MIT’s program is rank first in US News.

Harvard is a great school, but if we’re talkin math, then you should definitely take MIT.

That US News ranks MIT slightly above Harvard in math ought to be utterly irrelevant. Both have top mathematics programs.

Given the time of year, I assume that you have not been accepted to either school yet. If this is the case, your consideration between the schools should be put off until you have been accepted to both, which is in fact unlikely to happen.

I totally agree with silverturtle. The math departments at Harvard and MIT are both top notch. US News ranks them #1 and #2 for math. I was just applying to grad school in math and I have met several students who were deciding between the two (and only those two).

If you are in a position to choose, I would encourage you to choose the atmosphere you like better. Do you like the geek scene at MIT? Do you want to tackle Math 55 at Harvard (known as the hardest undergraduate math course in the country)? Do you have strong feelings about Harvard’s and MIT’s (very different) core curricula? Are the professors more approachable at one university than the other? (I can tell you that MIT has more junior faculty than Harvard; I don’t know if that has any implications for undergraduates though.)
