math help please !

I was wondering someone could kindly help with this problem...it might be really easy but i bad at math so...

2,-4,8

the first term of the sequence above is 2, and every term after the first term is -2 times the preceding term. How many of the first 50 terms of this sequence are less than 100 ?

A)22
B)25
C)28
D)30
E)37

Let y = -(-2)^x
If x is odd, y is positive.
If x is even, y is negative. = y is less than 100 if x is even.

For odd numbers, every number until 32 is less than 100. (2, -4, 8, -16, 32, -64, 128)
There are 25 numbers that are negative, and 3 numbers that are less than 100 and are positive.

25 + 3 = 28.

thanks a lot for the quick response and the great explanation :)
