Hey, I took the January 27th SATI, and I am shooting for an 800. I have meticulously read every singly math thread, and I have yet to find a single error. So, maybe this is just pre-score nervousness, but it would really help me a lot if you guys could help me remember this question. Sadly, the question in concern for me is question number one (i think). I have had nightmares over the fact that I may have misread this question. It would seriously ease my nerves if one of you could confirm my memory. One question said that if you have a circle, and you double the diameter, by what factor does the radius increase? Obviously, the answer is that the radius also doubles, because they are directly proportional. BUT, after thinking about it, this question seems WAY too easy for the SATs. I then realized that it would be more likely that the question said, if you double the diameter, by what factor does the area, increase. (Adding a miniscule amount of difficulty). I feel that the latter would be a lot more appropriate for the SATs. So, could somebody please attest to the fact that it said the radius, not the area! It would save me a ton of nervousness.

I did not take that test, but if it was #1, I can buy it being that easy. In any case, I am no stranger to the mind tricks post-sat stress can play on you, but there is nothing you can do now. Hopefully someone can backp up your memory and ease your nerves a bit, but you should try to relax a little.

i took the january sat, also. and i dont even remember that question. are you sure it wasnt experimental?

i don't see what difference it would make now, besides there is so much more in life to be obsessed with (val-day hint-hint).
anyhow, that question was in the first five, and not #1 i think.
it sounded more like ratio of the diameters of two circles is 2:1, what's the ratio of radii. or one diameter is two times bigger or something like that.
there are tons of stupid questions like this on the SAT, so why try reading in extra stuff.

Don't worry. Some stuff truly IS too easy for the SAT< but that's only like the first few questions. I'm sure most was challenging (or some at least lol) As it was for me.

I did not take the experimental math (I had CR). You probably dont remember the question, because you tend to remember the questions that give you have to stop and think about. Unfortunately for me, I live in NY and most schools have a snow day today. So now, the day before I get my scores back, all I have left to do is sit inside and think about the test! I understand that there are more important things I could be doing, but if I missed an 800 math by that question, im pretty sure id remember it for the rest of my life... lol... in practice, ive only missed at most one question, and that's usually the LAST question in one section. I have never missed question 1 or 2. I would be so angry. Plus, I am in this desperate stage where I am less than 20 hours from finding out my score, and my mind is racing and probably distorting everything. I am happy that some of you said that this question would be a plausible one for question #1 or 2.

ooh paleese, dudess (or dude), so many times people talked in this forum about a vanity of being obsessed with 800. i get all the math questions right on practice tests, but i never had 800 on the real thing because of some stupid mistakes made under pressure (except for the SAT II math 2 - it has a forgiving curve). i go nuts when I learn my score, but that wears off pretty fast, I have plenty of other things to be crazy about (mad and/or happy). right now i'm really wired: man, i want my 800 this time! i doubt i'll get it though.
so what are you gonna do if your score is not 800 beacause of one wrong answer? what if there were three? i'm sorry, now you might start walking on the walls.
go to the movies, watch 5 or 6, then come home and play some stupid online game till your fingers are sore and brain is numb. don't forget counting how many times you check CB site. my bet is 189. could you confirm when you're done?

OP, i'm pretty sure it said the radius, i remember reading that question over 2-3 times as well. i put doubled too. =) chill out and relax. it's just a test

hey experimental reading peeps,
did u get the math question where
- it had (a, -b)
- pie chart (you had to mult by 4)
- n columsn, rows (ans. was 52)

thanks for your post. It is not that I NEED an 800, it is just that I dont wanna have to miss it by one question. Because that tells you that you were capable of an 800, but you still didnt get it. THis is only my first time taking it, and hopefully the last. If I got an 800, i would definitely be done. That's what I care about... being done! Thanks for everybody's feedback!

how many do you think you got wrong on cr to get 780? my son thinks he got 4 wrong but did not get his score yet. was the curve good you think based on what you got? thanks
