When x is expressed as a decimal, the hundreths digit is 8. WHat is the greatest possible value of 1/x
A. .00125
B. 010101...
C.098989....
D.11.111...
E.12.5

it’s just 12.5, to maximize 1/x, you have minimize x. the smallest value of x is 0.08000000000000000000000.
so 1/0.08 = 12.5

The correct answer is E.

^

Oh really?

Heres another one: At a certain hospital, 89 children were born in the month of June. If more children were born on the fifteenth of June than on any other day, what is te least number of childrenthat could have been born on the fifteenth of June?

^

Is the answer five?

Sandwhichgirl, the answer is 4, not 5. I don’t understand why the answer is 4 though.

I meant 4.

This is how I got it.

There are thirty days in June, and there are 89 days to distribute among those days, and you have to follow one “rules”.

June 15th has more babies born that that of any other date. (the date doesn’t really matter here; all you have to know is that one date has more baby born than that of any other)

You take the 30 days and multiply it by two, so now every day has two babies born on it.

29 more babies left to distribute among 30 days.

At this point, the answer cannot be 3 because then it would be equal to some other days.

In this scenario, June 15th has 4 babies, 27 other days have 3 babies born on them, and 2 other days still have 2 babies.

Note: this explanation might be wrong because I currently have a headache.
