math requirement

Hello,

Since I came in with AP credit, I was allowed to skip one quarter of math. This leaves me with only having to take integration and statistics (thus completing the calculus series).

So... I'd have to take another class to make math a full year. However, the other class I'm considering is also Statistics, but they are different classes (not in the calculus series) and would allow me to fulfill a year.

So my question is whether I should consider taking a math class that focuses on a different topic (like Linear Algebra/Differential Equations) instead of statistics. Do the medical schools care whether my third math class is also statistics, or would they prefer that I choose something else to be more "varied" in my math background?

Thanks

Since so few schools are on the quarter system, I would encourage you to seek the advice of your school's premed advising. My inclination is to tell you that either choice would be fine; Statistics counts towards your math requirement, and most schools to not put stat in any sort of 'series' with calc. I generally recommend that people should have a year of calc and a semester of stat to ensure that all the bases are covered regarding admissions requirements.
