Math Rigor

Hey, guys, I figure I'll ask you guys for your advice on which math class to take next year.

I'm not strong at math. I mean, technically, I'm rather good at it, but its by far my weakest subject. I hate and loathe it with a passion. So, for senior year, i can't decide which class to take.

I'm aiming for Ivies (Columbia, UPenn) and near ivies (Duke, Rice, Tufts)

Here's my history:
8th grade: Algebra I Honors (91-B)
9th grade: Geometry Honors (86-B)
10th grade: Algebra II Honors (92-B)
11th grade: Trig/Precalc Honors (85-B)

My math Sat is 690 (-5), but i'm fairly sure i can get a 770+ (I only made stupid careless errors)

For senior year:

AP Calc AB
AP Stats
Calculus I

If I take Calculus I, will that kill my course rigor?

For reference here is my schedule for next year:
AP Gov
AP Macro/ Micro
AP English Lit
AP Psych
Honors Physics (should I go up to AP?)
Calculus I
Advanced Gym (aka weightlifting)

Any advice? I'm probably going to be a humanities major.

You already have a couple of APs, and if you’re not so passionate about math, I don’t think it would hurt THAT much. However, colleges do like to see applicants taking as many APs as possible. Personally, I would recommend AP Calc AB, but it’s up to you.

I would recommend AB if you’re serious about the schools you mentioned.

I got a 690 on the math section of the SAT (pushed it up to 700 on retake) and lower grades than you did in most of my math classes. I took Calc BC after Pre-Calc, and though I struggled and came this close to getting a C first semester, I got a A second and a 4 n the AP. If you want to push it and believe in yourself, reach for the highest.
