Mathematics Graduate Question

Hello everyone. I just had a quick question regarding post-grad work after getting a phd in mathematics. My goal is to become a mathematics professor at a University, and my question is if I would be required to get a post-doc after graduating with a phd in order to get a job as a professor? I know many hard sciences, such as physics, mainly require you to get a post-doc after graduate school but I was not sure if the same was required for math?

Thank you!

The likelihood of getting a tenure track ( or any academic) appointment directly after receiving your phd is quite low for most disciplines.

Okay I guess that was my main question. I must also add that I would be more interested in teaching at a more teaching-oriented university, such as a liberal arts university. I don’t know if this makes a difference.
