May 1st Getting Closer

How many people have decided where they are going??

Mine:
Chance of going to Case: 99.9999%
Coming from: CT
Intended Major: BME
Other Colleges on the list: BU, UC-SD, WPI, UConn.

chance of going: 99.000

other places accepted: umich, johns hopkins, washu, duke, gatech, carnegie

why am i going: trustees scholarship and..i like it

Already enrolled. Best school I got into and best scholarships too. Really a no-brainer for me.

Already enrolled too. Best school i got into, plus i am in the PPSP program (though how i don't know... considering i wasnt even offered a scholarship).

I'm 80% sure I'm going. I had a talk with my genius uncle, and he told me that my best bet with physics was to go to Case.

about 2% going. no scholarships, too expensive. or else, i would've loved to go.
either going to tulane or george washington.

Jediknight05, I was wondering how you chose case over the others cuz I got accepted to similar schools as you and Im deciding between bu and case and Im having a difficult time choosing. Just wanted to know how you reached our decision. THanks

Well, I went by lots of statistics. Case, for my major, is a great school, ranked #4 (in BME). Also, Case seemed to output more graduate students than any of my other schools. Plus, the financial package was great (I didn't even bother applying for financial aid at BU). I was thinking about UC-SD, but saddly, they enrolled me in their Winter quarter. I didn't want to take a semester off, since I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I did that. Plus, being in CT, 'rents sort of forced me to stay a little closer. But, I think the decision about Case was based on my major, since BME is really good there, and when I visited there, I felt that school was a pretty good match for me.

What are you planning on majoring in? Maybe that might lead to one of your schools...

Im planning on majoring in BME as well. Sorry about not stating that earlier.

For that reason, I think Case is definately a better school. It was nationally ranked higher than BU, and seems to be a very engineering-oriented school as well, although they have many other programs. It all depends on what you want to do outside of school as well. Have you visited BU? Or Case? I think they have very different types of things to offer. Case seemed like a lively school, but did not have the "wildness" that BU might (I've never been to BU, but just saying from what I've heard). You still 12 days...lol good luck.

Most likely not going
Had trustee scholarship but no PPSP interview
99% going to Northwestern HPME (They dont have scholarships)

Chance of going to Case: 99%
Coming from: NY
Intended Major: Biology and political science (maybe international relations?)
Other Colleges on the list: Cornell, Dartmouth, wait listed at harvard, UConn's 8 year program, RPI and Union's 7 year programs.

Wow, turning down an Ivy for Case...must've been a tough decision.

lol....yeah it really is a hard decision. but i gotta pick somewhere in the end, and it's looking more and more like case.

I'd love to meet you man ... or woman.

cyan516- what are the 8 and 7 year programs you are talking about?

squee- they're med programs. but i'm not sure if i want to go to one of those over an ivy yet.

that is what i though... i cant believe you are seriously going to Case (99%) when you got into med programs. True, i don't know how good those schools are... but a med school is a med school (there is only like a 125 out there anyways) so it is better to get in one now rather then worry about Mcats and applications and possible rejections later.

That's my thoughts atleast...

lol. i should have been clearer on this earlier. sorry for that! i got into case's 8 year program, that's the only reason that i'm thinking of going there. if i didn't get into the program i wouldn't even consider it. but case's med school is ranked really well (20th i think?) and there are no MCATs, so....it's really tempting lol.

oh cool! that makes more sense (i was like no way someone would turn down a 7/8year med program). I got into the PPSP program there too! it's the reason i am going there... otherwise my family and i wouldn't even trying to pay the price tution and room&board at Case(though i am still freaking out about how much debt i am gonna come out with). What day was your interview on?

Case's med school is 20... which is the same as northwesterns (which is the med school that i would love to go to because I love the hospital and it's in downtown chicago... but hopefully Case's is nice). UofC, my other preferred med school is 19. But i dont even think i am going to take the mcats (at least i dont want to right now).
