its either railroads or lack of local rural cotton...all cotton produced in south...it just depends on what date the test was talking about...a little unclear on that ?

railroads were developed in the late 20s and were directly competeing wit canals/steamboats by the 30s

i studied out of the Kaplan and SAT II Book for Dummies, and i thought this test was wayyyy harder than the tests in the books--for a lot of studying there were a bunch of questions i could narrow down to two or was having trouble with

any1 else find it pretty hard??

im pretty sure that the major mode of transportation/shipping from 1820-1850 was the canal.

Railroads didn't become that important untill after that.

i thought it was very easy. i take ap us history though, so its probably something to do with that.

yeah some ?s were a little difficult... i had same problem as u on some...the answers seemed to all say the same thing just reworded slightly...overall i think i did well though

in the first half of the 19th century it was mainly turnpikes and canals

railroads didnt become big until the middle of the century, and they exploded during the gilded age

What was the question on the raidroads... i thought it was either middle or late 19th century... don't remember from 1820-1850

The question asked which of the following did NOT contribute to the development of textile factories in the North East? And the answer was railroads, becasue textile factories developed in the early 19th century during the canal era.

I though the test was pretty hard, probably because I don't take AP History and didn't do a lot of self-studying. Instead my school has an IB History of the Americas class, and we haven't gotten past the early 1800s there.

Was the question about the first women question choice D? I know it was ferraro, but i can't remember if i bubbled it in correctly....

does anyone remember any other questions?

no ferraro was E i think. for the passage about the catalog, wouldn't the railroads be upset b/c they said SPECIAL rates? that would undermine the railroad rates.

yeah when did Great Depression finally end...last ? on my test wasn't sure if new deal reforms really ended it, but wasn't sure about military and WWII

i put WWII, and I'm almost positive on that answer.

it was WWII. The effectivness of the New Deal is still being debated -- when FDR pulled back on gvt spending the econmy recessed in 1937. The Depression didn't truly end untill we entered the war.

railroads would not have been upset, becasue they were the ones providing the companies with the special rates.

yeah i put that 2, was flip-flopping, and was tryin to reason in my mind. the new deal reforms seemed like the liberal answer and coming from conservative texas, my apush teacher has beat into my head that the new deal did absolutely nothing and that WWII made the depression go away.

ahh...I don't remember that question on my test.....

overall not a bad test, definitely over 700, hopefully around a 750

You guys put John Winthrop for the "city on the hill" passage right??

I said farmers would be mad about special rates...pretty positive.

it is not world war that ended great depression

actually the question was like what helped great depression

and remember that the us only benefitted when it entered the wwii and

the choice was like at the beginning of the world war ii but remember, us did not immediately enter the wwii

so it was at least new deal that even helped a bit
