May 2010 Writing SAT Thread

anyone remember the paragraph correction answers…the one with the juggling?

was an answer “had a talent for”?

and was is the xylophone q.? like the actual question…i dont seem to remember it.

it said
the instrumets bells playse more loudly than the xylyphone

it shudve been the bells of the xylyphone

does anyone

remember

" more freely" it was the ID poet question.

also the mechanic question #10

something something, I have it something choice C i believe.

does anybody know the error id question with “balance…against” where against was underlined?
i’m pretty sure “balance against” is wrong idiomatically, but i’m not sure

i dont remember the xylophone q…was it experimental

and yep, i got more freely as the error too.

I put “more” as the answer because I thought it should be correctly written as ‘most popular’

na it wasnt experimental

so if analyzed correctly

I havea 33+ 14= 47 47/49 raw score and prolly 10-11 essay

any chances of a 770-800?

“Bananas weren’t being compared individually to apples and bananas though. They were being compared to “other” fruits, which would mean that it is just a comparison between two different things.”

iirc, the sentence went something along the lines of "bananas are the [d]more popular fruit in the world. nothing can ever be the “more” popular thing in the world, only the most.

@shaheiruddin Do you know the full sentence for the bells/xylophone question?
Bells are an instrument by themselves so maybe I read it incorrectly but I picked a different part of the sentence that I thought had a more probable error… perhaps not.

^i got the same answer too…last 3 for sec. 10 were DDD? confirmed?

@shahe: “than” was after “more…” how can it be wrong ?

Was the xylophone question in the 14 question section or the 35 one? Cus I dont remember reading it at all.

was it the xylophone question that had “differ with” in it?

okay so i think i did well on the writing multiple choice, but i completely failed my essay. i spent too much time extending my first piece of evidence to prove my point that i didn’t have time for a second example and a conclusion. so i ended up writing an introduction, and paragraph of background information for my example (which was a psychology case study) and then one paragraph explaining how the example relates and proves my point… and then that’s it.

i think im going to get an 8. is there any hope for a 10 at all?? i think i set up the background and explained that one example well, but i only had one example and didn’t have a conclusion.

^ you cant compare an instrument to another instruments bells.

This the sentence

The “something”'s bells play more something than the xylyphone does.

it shudve been xylyphone’s bells or of the like.

illogical comparison.

^man, i dont seem to remember that q. at all ahaha, but im good with comparison q’s…so hopefully i got that one

just to confirm people: there was only one NE (the red crystal) for identifying sentence errors, right?

can’t you consider that the “something’s bells” is an instrument as a whole and that instrument is compared to the xylophone ?

@Raphael: yes, that’s what i got, but im not 100% sure…

Raphael, I only had 1 No Error as well.

^ it was mentioned somewhre in the sentence that they both have bells.

Someone confirm this answer.

Also could you guyz confirm the mechanic question

something something , I have it checked Choice C #10
