couldn’t the dna in the tissue tell about the location? and how does it tell the weight and height??
@xenia22587 nah don’t worry about it! I self-studied AP Bio with Cliffs and I’m taking an honors bio course because my school doesn’t offer AP courses (thanks a lot, school.) This is my first time taking the SAT 2 for bio and hopefully last. Your plan sounds good for the subject test, idk how thorough it would be for AP bio.
and yeah, i got that dna could not predict probability of you having been in a specific location. "DNA is sometimes referred to as a “genetic blueprint” because it contains the instructions that govern the development of an organism. Characteristics such as hair color, eye color, height and other physical features are all determined by genes that reside in just 2% of human DNA. "
i just realized that mitochondria is passed from mother to child, so it’s maternal grandmother for that one.
Okay I put location as well for that one. Another question What directly causes seed germination?
i put height and weight because cant similar dna bt two different species determine similar location of there ancestry while height and weight fluctuate throughout your life and could not be used as a constant to determine a missing person?
water causes germination
B lymphocytes produce antibodies. NOT bone marrow. Bone marrow produces lymphocytes.
@kkrr0529 agree, pretty sure it’s height and weight, location can be determined by body residues such as hair n stuff and where you find them. pretty sure weight is very variable depending on the person, genetics can’t determine that
hey guys i felt pretty good about it. I just looked a couple things up and the excretory/reproductive system of grasshoppers is in the abdomen. plasmodesmata is between bundle sheath and mesophyll cells. also i got the one about smoking wrong, it was emphysema :(. those were the main ones i was unsure of. any others to discuss?
I put weight and height.
Location works because by looking at hair samples and saliva, you can determine if that person was present at the crime scene(location).
Weight is not genetically influenced. You can get heavy from eating too much, living a sedentary lifestyle, or building up muscle mass by working out.
It was the same for me, I DEFINITELY going it harder than any other practice test I’ve taken
hey so if I missed approximately 8-10 what questions and omitted 3 what is my score estimate?
@server456 depends on the curve.
but according to the Barron’s curve:
if you missed 8 and omitted 3: 750
if you missed 9 and omitted 3: 740
if you missed 10 and omitted 3:730
@flaminhotcheetos calvin cycle one was chloroplast. also i also got the weight/height cuz u can determine if a person has been at a crime scene using dna?
anyone took e?
I did
I took both and I found out tht M was a tad bit harder for me so I ended up erasing it and keeping E lol
@kyojin24 I was debating between the height and weight and location too. I picked location because height is something that can be determined by DNA. height is polygenic remember? but then again, genetic factors can only determine 60-80% of height. the rest is due to the environment (ex: nutrition)
now that I think about it, I got this one wrong
@SoccerGirl its fine lol i know i got at least 3-4 wrong right now… and i omitted like 3.
i thought this was definitely harder than most practice tests, but don’t worry because if we all did poorly, hopefully the curve will be low
