May 5th (2012) SAT

Am I the only one who still does not have their scores? I called them today because they guaranteed they would be posted today. After being forwarded through three different people who clearly didn't know what they were talking about according to the fourth person I spoke to; I was informed my scores are being seized because they were "too high" in general (I HIGHLY doubt I have a perfect score let alone one off the charts,) and then she elaborated that compared to my old scores they were "especially abnormally high" so I will need to wait 4-6 weeks but she can't tell me exactly when this will be over. Supposedly it's from the time they grade it, well it's already been 5 and a half weeks since I took the stupid thing. I don't understand this, I read other people got 200-400+ score jumps and their scores came back on time.

What? What the devil? I took them last year! Anything could happen in a year, there was a reasonable explanation for why they might be "abnormally high" more than 80% of my test didn't even get counted last time! Testing day was poorly planned and people were confused, running around students got sent to the wrong room, some people didn't get all their materials. They can look right at my old test, which they evidently did, and SEE the reason for why I didn't score all that well!

Unless they plan to refund that hefty fee and the college fees; I feel the need to demand my money back from them. Had they told me this from the beginning, things might be different. But I was given several different reasons for why the test was being held, and THEN, the lady I spoke to today told me they were all wrong and my scores had been "flagged and seized" and I was now being "investigated"

Oh wow, that totally sucks… it’s really weird that they seized your test just because you scored better on the test. I never heard that ever happened before…

I am highly irritated, I worked my fingers to the bone (literally had blisters to prove it) studying for this SAT and then the lady had an attitude and was using her “threatening” tone on me. Telling me they would investigate and get to the bottom of it,

What were your scores the first time you took the SAT? I can imagine it being suspicious to go from 1200 to 2350, but does College Board honestly not realize how much people study for the SAT? I mean, come on – they sell practice tests themselves.

I would be pretty angry if I were you, especially if they invalidated your scores. If there’s no evidence that you cheated do they even have the right to not release your scores?

It was like 1000. I can understand how hopping from that to a significant number would be suspicious BUT, I was a victim of NOT getting all their stuff! The teacher eventually realized it when we were nearly friggin DONE, pulled me outside, whispered I needed to try and fill in as much as possible and tossed me a answer booklet! Whole sections were blank! That should clue someone in that there was a friggin reason I scored like a crackhead!

Since I did all my practice tests online I never had to use a double booklet and I knew you weren’t supposed to look over at anyone (heard to many horror stories about kids being kicked out for “peeking”) so I kept my head down and did my test.

I went on to explain this to the woman and told her she could look at my account and it would SHOW her that all those questions were blank! Her response was “I don’t know the circumstances of that former test! I just know you scored very low” I JUST TOLD YOU THEM FOOL!

I have a MAJOR problem with the fact I was given 4 different reasons for why my scores were being held and then she goes on to basically tell me “They lied to you, they didn’t have the authority to answer you” well then, WHY were they THERE FOR? As far as I know, you were supposed to be reported before they check your stuff. Is it seriously even probable to be alerted BECAUSE someone scored higher than the people in their room? She claims that is why I got tagged in the first place, then went on to say it got sent in and seized when they checked my former scores

EDIT: I would like to add, these things were last year. The fact I had the flu is irrelevant I doubt they care about that, but seriously. A year and a month? Honestly the ACT practice tests I had were harder than my actual SAT -_-

I’m a little confused about what happened with the test that you scored ~1000 on. Did the proctor not give you an answer sheet until towards the end of the test? What were you doing the whole time that they instructed you to fill out your name, etc,?

Also why would you not either cancel your test scores or report the proctor and testing agency? Seems like you could have made a better decision there, and your story doesn’t really add up as of now. I would call again if I were you and try to talk to someone else and explain your situation as clearly as possible.

I’m a bit confused as to what doesn’t add up? That’s what I was saying, I didn’t get my stuff till it was too late to honestly go back and change anything(besides you aren’t even allowed to do that, so that didn’t seem like a good idea to me). My instructor even specifically said before hand “Not all of you will have to fill in the same information before hand”

I don’t deny the fact I should have cancelled my test before hand but seeing as I didn’t have money for another one, I opted to hope it wouldn’t be too pitiful. Originally I wasn’t even in the right room, I had to go through more than one before I was placed in the one I was supposed to be taking the test in. I know a lot of people had bad testing experiences but didn’t report their centers, I’m pretty sure I read some horror stories on here about them. I assume they probably had the same issue I did, we needed our scores and as long as they came back fine we didn’t complain about how crappy the testing experience was.

I honestly don’t see how having a bad testing experience is going to help me now. I explained to them clearly, “I took the test, I did not get all my answers filled in;” the second time. I did several preps, I studied intensely, I double checked all my testing information. I made sure I had everything I needed, I double checked about what we were and were not allowed to have (we could use scrap paper last time, this time she said it wasn’t allowed) and I took the test -_-

This happens pretty often. The College Board will use high score increases as evidence of cheating. They will then sieze your test and check for additional evidence such as “an abnormally high number of erasures,” or “too little work shown in the test booklet.” I have had to testify at many arbitration hearings for my students for both the SAT and ACT, and convince the arbitrators that the students’ scores went up because of their preparation and not because they were cheating. I never lost one of these cases, but I have a colleague (a verbal instructor) that lost one.

Maybe I am just naive, but how in the world could they even get that to hold? “Numerous erasers attempts?” I did most of mine mentally, only scribbling down notes to remember the basic information =/

I thought you had to have a certain point increase to even get alerted?

How do you even cheat on the SAT? Half the time I am on math someone close to me is on writing/reading lol.

^^^

That’s what I’m trying to figure out! People end up with different sections all the time! I swear there were only two times I remember in this session we all had our calculators out. Every other time half the class had different things going on, so how people manage to cheat is beyond me. It seems like it would be less of a hassle and (less expensive) to just friggin study,

I finally spoke to someone else and the lady said she has no idea why the woman spoke to me that way or why she was so nasty. If I don’t see my scores in two weeks she said to give her a call sigh I hope they sky rocketed past what I expected for myself for this; and I hope the rest of the people waiting get their scores soon.

Some people tend to get a little ridiculous sometimes. What were your practice test scores when studying for your second sat?

I still havnt gotten my score back yet…

I had like a 1930? On my fourth practice test, with a 12/12 practice essay (But you know, online grader) and Math did me in -sigh- never did like that stuff after Freshman year. @EricSnow: Have you called them yet to ask them about why your scores are not released? I checked online today (hoping against hope) and still “Not yet available” sigh -_- This whole thing is messing with my admission decision! At least if I knew what I scored this time I could mentally chance myself. The practice tests seemed a lot harder than the actual SAT this month and the question I got was a lot easier, but I don’t want to feel too confident and then be disappointed in my scores.

I call recently and they said I had a significant score increase from my test last year (hoping I increased 900 points in all) but they just said they would release it when they were done reviewing, I’m guessing we get them with the June scores.

I hope you’re right. Here’s to hoping we can celebrate with the June test takers

I just got my score… Only got 1900… So increased about 540 points… Which sucks, badly. But should be enough for my schools. :(((

oh god ! i have the same problem but because I’m from Egypt there were some political issues going on so they delayed the test to may,19 , but they said that the scores would be available as if i took the test on MAY, 5 , and it is not available yet so i messaged them for three time and they replied to the last message with…
“Your scores are taking longer to report because your answer sheet is going through our exception scoring process.”
does that mean that i got 350 or over increase points ?
i am really so worried about the fact that they may cancel my score! , although i didn’t cheat !!
my last score was 1350 , but the last one i took i was so sick that i answered by luck so i got 200 reading , 200 writing ,and 420 math ! … and i totally forgot about canceling my score ! , but from Jan. to May!! it is a really reasonable period to study well and get a high score , and i did well on June too , i guess even better than what i did on May , can this be helpful when they compare my May score with June score and found no difference in increasing points ??
can anyone reply ,cause I’m really worried and at the same time so angry , because this is really so unfair !!

@EricSnow Hey! Chin up, a 1900 isn’t the end of the world or even close to being a fail. Isn’t the average around 1500? You still increased by a decent amount! Be happy, congratulate yourself.

My heart dropped because I assumed that meant mine were back, they still aren’t -_- so here is to hoping maybe tomorrow I can be happy about a hopefully hefty score. @Tokaessam I highly doubt and hope they do not cancel our scores. Maybe tomorrow morning we will have both of ours posted.

geez… sorry Eclipse for the wait… feel free to share your frustrations on my thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1354859-official-june-2012-sat-talk-countdown.html
