mba or msc in finance & private equity

Hi,

I graduated from an IVY league school with a GPA of 3.60 in engineering and I have a 730 GMAT. Since my graduation in May 2009, I have been working in a leading Turkish investment bank. (2 years 4 months at matriculation). Currently I am finalizing my apps for MBA and I will apply to very reach schools like Harvard, Wharton, Columbia, Yale, NYU, Chıcago and Stanford, all in round 2. Post mba, I want to work for Private Equity.
My question is that, if I cant get into any of those school should I go to LSE’s master in finance & Private Equity (assuming I will be accepted given that I was accepted last year with same stats and no work exp.) or should I work for a year or two and reapply to MBA. I believe my stats are ok for most of these MBA schools except my current below average work exp.

Thanks in advance for the help

The MSc is the main degree in Europe. LSE is a top name. If you want to work overseas LSE is a good choice. Get an MBA in the states. Maybe if you got into Princeton’s MSF it would be a tough choice, but other than that, MBA all the way.

Completely different tracks in life. Go to LSE if you want to spend the rest of your life in Europe. If you want to spend the rest of your life in Amrrica (f— yeah!) then keep working a little while and go to a top American MBA program. There’s a lot more to this decision than stats.

I didn’t even know Turkey had any investment banks… what bank is it? It’s not a subsidiary of a global i-bank is it?

Good luck on your apps. If you believe, as I do, that each application is really just a dice roll, then you have a good shot!
