So I guess I'm in mcdonel. Are there a lot of freshmen there?! Is there a big party scene or is it quiet? Also, where's the closest caf?

McDonel has its own caf. I don’t think the under/upperclassmen distribution is very skewed compared to the campus as a whole. There are a lot of internationals, though.

McDonel used to have a caf, but they just closed it this year. The closest caf is next door, in Holmes. I’m not sure what the freshmen/ upperclassmen breakdown is either.

They closed it? Why? I liked their Asian food!

I’m not sure why they closed it, but I’ve heard it from many sources and Mcdonel isn’t on the eat at state website anymore either. I think they closed it because not as many people ate at the Mcdonel caf, and they want to put more resources into the more popular cafeterias. And they will be closing Wonders caf in the winter after the Case renovations are done.

they are doing the whole “neighborhood concept” so eventually every major neighborhood will just have one main cafeteria. I’m not entirely sure why…

Hm. But won’t they all then be super-crowded? That seems like a silly idea to me, unless they expand some of the cafeterias they leave open.

^The plan is to expand all the cafeterias to be like brody or sny-phi…of course they do it in phases. i.e. Case Hall is undergoing remodeling and should be like brody/sny-phi cafes come spring 2012.

But the sny-phi caf sucks people wise. It’s so difficult to get a table during peak times.

Even Brody caf is crowded during peak hours! I can’t imagine there’s a whole lot of room in Case to make the cafeteria a whole lot bigger…

from what I know about case they are enlarging the caf to be significantly bigger (not sure how, but that’s what I heard). Wonders is closed for good I think, and they are going to close down holden eventually but Wilson will remain open in south complex for a long while.
