does anyone know anything about mcgill? does it really merit being called "the harvard of canada"?

i went to go look at mcgill back in april. i dunno where youre from, but it was SO different from everything else i've seen/ what i'm used to. (i live outside boston) the whole vibe is very relaxed and low key... the dorms are in an old hotel, the classes seem like they are HUGE freshman year. it deff seems like the type of place where you have to be motivated and do your own thing.. ie no one telling you what you should do and when. everyone i met LOVED it. i had an amazing time there, from everything i know about it, mcgill deff seems like an outstanding education for a fraction of the price you would pay at a comprable school here in the US. As for the title, "harvard of the north/canada" realistically, harvard is harvard; and mcgill isnt harvard. but mcgill is debatbly the best school in canada. Anyone in this country will respect a degree from mcgill as they would any big name school. Also keep in mind- admissions at mcgill are pretty much a cut and dry numbers game. (from kids i met it seemed like a 650+ on each SAT section got you in... so thats pretty different from Harvard.)
