meal plan//books

ok i have 2 questions , maybe kinda stupid, but i really wanna go to college park and im kinda tight my finacials and trying to cut back.

are most people at college park on meal plan, or for the most part do u buy your own food. i mean if i was NOT to get a meal plan, would that be weird?

the price of books on college websites are usually over a 1000, is that usually how much it costs? if u bought used ones would it still amount to the same cost?

If you are a freshman living in the dorms you have to take a meal plan. Books do cost alot- but used ones are a little bit less expensive. If you want an example of what books would cost you can go onto Maryland's website and just check some course listing and click on the book list.

ok, so then is the fee thats listed for the "board" basically your meal plan???

yeah..without a meal plan..you'd be very inconvenienced. since we live in regular dorms, and not apartments/suites, there isn't a kitchen or anything like that.

and my textbooks generally cost me about 300-450...depends on how many classes you're taking and if the books are big textbooks or novels.

My textbooks cost on average 180-280 per semester.
