Meal Plan Question

My d will be a freshman this fall. Should we get her the 19 flex or the 220 block?

19 flex gives 3 meals a day in Mather or any equivilent amt in Cave and Bistro, plus 50$ dining flex. But she loses any portion unused at the end of the week? They reset every Thurs?

220 block gives her 220 meals( or about 14 per wk/ 2 meals per day ) that is good for the whole semester, plus 50$ dining flex?

With 220 block another words, if she happen to run low at some point near the end of the semester she would just add $ to dining flex as needed?

Also a question about adding $ for laundry and printing and misc things in bookstore or other..... Is this called bANTAM BUCKS? sHE ADDS THIS ON THE Machines located around campus? We were told by tour guide she can also order take out food on and have the bal paid by swiping the t-card for delivery?

Maybe you could break down the way the T card is used......Bantam Bucks, Meal flex$/Dining flex $ and Bantam Bucks and Chartwell Dollars.........lol....for a new parent this all sounds like a bunch of labels for $ my d needs to use....but which is used for which?

Then, the u-pass is for the buses? Free to students? Shedules and routes and stops among campus?

I'm sure this all makes perfect sense for current students but would someone explain how the T-card works?

Thanks

wait sth. is written my International Student Handbook abt the U-Pass, I wud just give u a link where u can get some information abt this.

We really need a current student from Trinity rite here in our forum so that s/he can answer our queries...........unfortunately noone. I have been tryin to convince some ppl to get in here. But still not of any use.

Different cards/funds/meal plans

The U-Pass: Provides free busing on any Hartford bus. This is separate from your...

Trinity ID: The "T-card" (no one calls it that) lets you into buildings and is swiped for meals, laundry, and some other stuff.

As far as the different money terms go:
-Dining flex (Chartwells Dollars): Extra money for meals outside of the allotted funds.
-Bantam Bucks: Used for laundry. You CAN use these at the bookstore, but you can just as easily use cash (same with takeout).

Meal Plans:
-I started on 19-Traditional, which is used exclusively at Mather. It's good for meeting people at first, but Mather has limited hours, and mediocre food.
-I switched to the 19-Flex. I need the 19 meals (I eat breakfast). You can use meals at Mather, or at the Cave or Bistro (where a meal is equivalent to $5.50). Cave and Bistro are open a lot more than Mather is, with better food, less variety. You can use no more than three meals a day (two on weekends), and any meals not used do not roll over. My roommate has 19-traditional, but still goes to the Cave with me a few times. The difference in price between 19-flex and traditional is such that if you go to the Cave or Bistro four times a week or less and pay with cash on the Traditional plan, the 19-flex is still more expensive. Any more times per week, and the Flex is a better deal.
-If your D doesn't eat breakfast, then go with the 220 block. She can pay with cash or flex if she needs to at the end of the semester (hopefully she doesn't overshoot the 220 by too much).
