Meal Plans

What meal plan do you recommend? I am guessing that no one actually eats 21 meals per week at the dining halls. Also, where all can you use the ez charge card at off campus? Is there a list somewhere?

Our D. started with14 meals, but after a month changed it to 10. Seems it works for her perfectly.

does she use the ez charge for her other meals or do you send her money?

She doesn’t use ez charge. We send her $100 a month; also she has a paid internship ( about $250 a month). They go to downtown places to eat sometimes, mostly on weekends. Seems the food in dining halls doesn’t attract them after 2-3 months…

We are planning to start at 14 and go from there. At least this way at the start I know she has access to two good meals a day. She is not a morning eater, so I figure she will keep things like granola bars in her room for the times she needs something early.

I’m planning on tracking it the first few months and then the two of us deciding again what would be good.

I would say if money isn’t an issue, get 21, because you can load up on snacks, gatorade, etc. with those extra meals, as well as get pizzas and crap at night. 17 is good too, as it also gives you these extra meals.

Typically you will only want 2 meals a day, because it’s buffet style. So 14 meals is good if you just want to get Breakfast/Lunch and Dinner in the dining halls.

Definitely 21 is not for girls  They don’t want to put infamous Freshman 15 pounds ( and for Mizzou it’s even 25). Start with 14, then she can change it to whatever she prefers. And believe me their room will be filled up with boxes of salads, cereals, and whatever they can get for unused tickets by Saturday night :-)

Yeah - my daughter doesn’t even eat 21 meals here! Now if I were sending a son, I might go with 17 or 21, lol!
