Hey guys so I just got accepted to IIT for Mechanical Engineering, and I just wanted to know how reputed the program is. A great thing about IIT is the scholarship: I got quite a hefty amount, and my parents would be happy to know that I wouldn't necessarily have to drain out their pockets for my UG :) but is IIT any good? how are it's rankings?

It’s fine … one of my relatives is alumni … now in northern Illinois univ…
Tech based institute … strong engineering program… Usnews ranking 100- 130 national university… Go for it

ah, great news i will still wait for my other decisions, but iit does seem more appealing now thx!

As a Physics professor at Illinois Tech, i can confirm that we have a very solid program in mechanical engineering. It is one of our most popular majors and our students have a high rate of employment after graduation. The students who want to go to graduate school get into top programs.

Rankings have debatable merit. You need to visit and decide if the school is a good fit and if it is financially feasible.

Thank you, @xraymancs ! Good to hear directly from the faculty :)

I’m an international student, and there is no possible way I can visit the campus. Maybe with some more time I should be able to decide :)
