I will be joining college as a bio major in the 2017 spring intake I could not take fall 2016 for personal reasons and had to waste a semester doing nothing ,What should I do to apply to med school with 2016 fall students
I do not want to waste 6 months more months waiting for the applications to open and apply with 2017 fall students.
The easy answer to your question is to take classes during the summer for make up for your lost time. Having said that, I would recommend that you instead to take your time and apply with 2017 class. It is difficult to gain admission to medical school and probably only 10-20% of the students entering College with a pre med ambition are successful.
Taking a little extra time to put together a strong application is in your best interest.
The OP is an international student who has not yet started college. His wording is awkward, but I believe what’s he asking is: Since he won’t be starting at his US college until Spring 2017, what should he doing in home country to “catch up” with his classmates who started in fall 2016 so he can apply to med school during his junior year of college.
Whatever you do, don’t take any academic coursework since AMCAS doesn’t accept/consider foreign coursework. Also taking coursework may disqualify you from any merit awards since you’ll be considered a transfer student, not an incoming freshman. It could also cause your admission to be rescinded (Since you’ll be a transfer student, not an incoming freshman).
The OP should be aware that the probability that an international student will be admitted to a US medical school is minuscule.

Isnt’ he starting school in January in the US? If so, then he’s hurt his chances for merit and best aid since most Spring admits (even if incoming Frosh) do not get great aid.
It sounds like he wants to be with the 2016 cohort that will apply to med school during summer after junior year.
If so, then he has some catching up to do. He could stay in the US over summers and take summer classes that are NOT premed prereqs. He could even take some local US community college courses if the classes are not premed science prereqs (he could take history or some other gen Ed/Core class). I don’t know if it’s a “no no” to take psych or socio in the summer.
Or am I misunderstanding?
