Med school is the ultimate goal, but the major is the issue.

I'll be an incoming freshman (college) in the upcoming year. I was accepted as a bio major at every school I applied to. I've decided on a college, but I'm wary with majoring in Biology. I'm not worried about interest, but rather scared about having a back up plan in case I don't get into med school. I won't get a decent job with a bio degree, and I'm thinking about changing majors. I would really like to major in something that is science related, but I can't really think of anything that has significant job security. I'm not highly math oriented, so engineering is pretty much not in consideration. Any ideas/suggestions?

my idea/suggestion is to take a variety of classes that seem interesting to you and to decide on your major closer to the deadline after experiencing classes in different areas of study

Chem or bio-chem, perhaps? (of course, P-Chem is a GPA killer in the former, particularly for those not strong in math.)

Neuroscience, with emphasis on learning?

I was considering neuroscience, but I heard that there are very few jobs. I’m also thinking about BME(bio-med engineering), but I’m not 100% sure. I heard that BME is also a GPA killer. I’m not exactly a very poor math student. I can manage some calculus, but probably not like Calc 3 or linear analysis. I’ll definitely look into Bio-Chem. I’m fairly certain that I want to pursue medicine as a career - I’ve shadowed several hundred hours and assisted a friend, family doctor in various occasions - however, I want to have a backup plan in the case that I do not get into med school. I’m sorry if I’m coming off as “job hungry,” but I want to be financially secure in accordance to being happy in the future.

IWBB, got it right. You have time until the end of the sophomore year to declare a major. Use your first semester to get a taste of 2 or 3 three areas that interest you and decide before the deadline.

What other subjects do you like? English? History? Computer Science? Some CS degrees aren’t in the eng’g dept and may require less math.

My med school bound son was a Chemical Eng’g major. He felt that ChemE was a good back up in case he changed his mind about med school.

Uhh, not if the OP chooses Engineering. That needs to be a choice on Day 1; otherwise, graduating in 4 years is nearly impossible. OTOH, unless the OP is a math ace, I would not recommend Eng+premed.

As per OP: “I’m not highly math oriented, so engineering is pretty much not in consideration.”

But the OP also said

But…Engineering should be off the table, given the threat to the GPA of this particular student.

Not necessarily. My son decided his major at the end of his first semester. He is a double major in CS (an engineering major, not the arts science variety) and Biology with a minor in Linguistics. He is on track to graduate in 4 years. He did take some courses in summer mainly to address the scheduling conflict between the school of engineering and school of arts and science.
