Med school junior year or senior year?

Hi all :)
So I just finished my sophomore year and my cGPA is 3.06 right now and I really want to go to med school. I can raise my cGPA to 3.6 or maybe even to 3.67 if I get all A's and with a heavy course load by the end of my senior year. I also need to do more EC and stuff so I was wondering should I apply to med schools at the end of junior year or at the end of senior year. I am just a bit hesitant to do it in my senior year because I would lose a year since the application process is a year long. I would love some advice :) And I you suggest that I apply by the end of my senior year, what should I focus on doing during that gap year?
I appreciate your help. Thank you :D

I’ll be straight with you–your GPA is too low to be a successful med school applicant at either MD or DO schools.

Add the low GPA to not having enough ECs, and you have yourself a guarantee for rejections everywhere you apply.

Being a reapplicant puts you at a disadvantage in future application cycles.

(Not to mention that applying to medical school is a long, expensive and emotionally draining process. You really, really don’t want to have to do it more than once.)

If you’re serious about med school, you need to delay your application until after you graduate. (At least!) This will give you time to raise your GPA and to get some more ECs completed. Start planning now to use your glide year to bolster your application.

Medical school is a marathon, not a sprint. Waiting one additional year to apply just isn’t that big of a deal in the larger scheme of things.

I’d like to add that Mcat test is not easy either. Take your time to prepare for it after you have completed all your science requirements.
