med school requirements

i am an undergrad student and i was wondering if the rumors i heard about taking premed classes in community college and/or testing out of them through clep/ap exams are true. i guess i just want some credible evidence regarding what i've been hearing. i know it seems logical that med schools would look down on applicants who have taken community college classes, but i was concerned about the "testing out" rumors. do med school admission committees really don't like applicants who have tested out of classes? would i need to actually take my premed classes at the university i attend or can i just test out of them through clep or other university department-sponsored tests?

btw i was searching for answers to these questions on the aamc website, but i couldn't find any. if anyone has any credible links that you can post on here regarding these issues, your help will will be much appreciated. thank you!

There is a whole premed forum. Look there.

Student Doctor Network (SDN). Google it, it’ll give you all the information (and way, way more) then you would ever want or possibly need.

yeah i didn’t notice there is a premed forum on this great site. i should’ve posted this in the premed forum or looked in there before i posted this. thanks for the information btw.

Some of the Texas med schools will accept AP classes as long as your transcript shows the undergraduate class you were given credit for. The same schools also have a requirement that you take at least one math class while in college so just because you might have had a 5 in AP BC calculus you haven’t satisfied the math requirement. You can however satisfy it with statistics rather than another calculus class.
