Media/Aesthetics HUM: a joke?

I’ve heard a lot of people criticize the Media HUM as “not in the spirit of the Core” and “too easy”. However I am genuinely interested by the material it will go over.

What is the general feeling on campus about the course actually like? Is it really a worse class than other classic HUM courses like some people online make it seem?

no they overhauled the curriculum like five years ago to make it harder and so now it’s no easier (some would even say harder depending on how tolerant you are of postmodernists lol) than other hums

For what it’s worth, my kids had a number of friends who were into theater or visual arts in a committed way, and who took this course (before whatever change @HydeSnark describes). All of them seriously loved it, and put a lot of work into it. The only thing they disliked about the course was the number of pre-meds and pre-Econ majors who were taking the course because they thought it would be easy. They didn’t feel they had missed out on any essential Chicago experience.
