[Medical residency] Match Day 2023

As someone who works in an academic department in a medical school I always have to recognize this important and hopefully joyous day!

May the luck of the Irish or ANY kind of luck be with those who will be finding their residency match today!!! :shamrock: :stethoscope:

Any one have skin in Match Day this year??

There is at least one parent in the medical school area of this forum who has a student who matched…and is waiting to see where.

Here is the thread…

Good luck to all who is waiting!

Remember: March 30th is the National Doctors’ (Appreciation) Day.

Good luck to everyone!
This was really hard on us when we experienced this in the middle of the pandemic!
But everything worked out, eventually, for her.

Nice to be on the other side watching this. D’s school has a livestream and all parents/students are in the huge foyer, waiting to open envelopes. We missed all that excitement thanks to the pandemic :frowning:

Friends’ son is in the match this year. Waiting to hear where he ends up. Also curious about new residents in D’s program.

Wishing everyone one of their top choices!

It was a fun time with my guy, but we were at home due to Covid - celebrating with his class online. 'Tis nice to have it in the rear view mirror though.

Love it! And I know that (I even have a tee shirt that says so) and still mistyped it! Blame my Scottish genes for subconsciously poking at the Irish.   :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover:

Congrats to newly matched residents!!

My daughter’s best friend matched to her top choice in IM, which is also a top U.S. program. Nice outcome. Three years from now: fellowship.

My niece matched to a hospital in HNL, so will be moving here with her H and newborn. My nephew’s serious GF matched with UCLA Harbor, so they’ll be moving there.

Haven’t asked or heard where my other nephew’s W has been matched for her GI fellowship and am not sure this is the year for her to have applied. She’s doing residency in DC with my nephew now. I think she’s hoping they can move to West Coast.
