What is the percentage of Georgetown's undergrads (those that apply to medical school) that are accepted into medical school?

i was also wondering this, and what medical schools do they get accepted into?

I have tried finding this information and have put many hours into finding any stats on gtown med success rates…Its very hard to find.

I do not know the accept rate but according to the american medical association 178 total students applied to medical school from georgetown. I don’t know the rate though so the 178 number is essentially usless because they could have all been rejected (even though that probably is not the case). By looking at various medical schools that publish where there students have come from I found the following data. At Johns hopkins medical school there were about (don’t remember the exact numbers) 4-8 gtown students. At wash u in stl there were about 4-8 as well.

i guess 4-8 is actually pretty good for a program like johns hopkins thats extremely selective. anyway, i was looking into this myself earlier and i found a helpful link. i cant seem to find it again but ill keep looking and repost it if i find it. it basically listed medical schools that georgetown pre-meds are most likely to get into and it said acceptance rates for gtown into these programs range from 3-25%. it also mentioned that most students best bet for acceptance would be georgetown early admission program, a jesuit medical school (like st louis U) that is very familiar with gtown, or a state school from your home state. also that its very hard and expensive to get into a public medical school from out of state. all helpful information, unfortunately might rule out my dream med school of UCLA =(

It seems so weird to me that only 178 students from Georgetown applied to medical school. Doesn’t that seem like a small number? Or is that normal?

178 is substantially lower than Duke, JHU, Wash U, Vanderbilt, and Emory all of which are above 250 and some closer to 350 (Duke, JHU). One difference though is GU has schools like business and SFS with lots of students almost none of whom are interested in pre med.

In any event, my wife attended GU back before it had a beautiful new science wing and got into Duke medical school. Her class mates all went to solid medical schools as well and so, although smaller than its peers, I think GU pre med is still solid (and even more so now that they have a new science center that will facilitate more research).

The number that was always quoted during admissions tours and information sessions was 80% - that is to say, about 80% of those who successfully completed the pre-med track (including receiving the school’s recommendation/certification) gained admission to a medical school.

here is a link with undergrads who produce the most med school applicants…gtown is significantly lower than the ivys and its peers, emory, vanderbilt, and notre dame…it still however has somewhat decent numbers.
