Ive seen a bunch of online pre reqs for med school and and all of the say like ‘one year chem’, or ‘one year physics’ How much classes is one year? is it two semesters or four semesters?
so do i take two organic chem classes to count as 'one yea’r of organic chem?
2 semesters = one year.
if quarter system, 3 quarters = 1 year. Typically to earn BS it is 120 semester credits or 180 quarter credits.
Two semesters = a year, for most schools. So a year of physics would be 2 semesters, so a sequence like General Physics I and II. Some schools group medical school pre-requisite into a single semester, one example being general chemistry. My school teaches that in a single semester. In cases like this, most medical schools require a second-semester class that also involves inorganic chemistry. It’s best to look at individual medical schools to see what they expect. However, the general rule of thumb for most medical schools and the MCAT is 1 year of General Chemistry, 1 year of Organic Chemistry, 1 year of Physics, 1 year of General Biology, 1 semester of Biochemistry, 1 semester of Sociology, and 1 semester of Psychology. Other suggested classes include statistics, upper-level biology and chemistry classes, etc.
