Medieval Studies Schools

Hi everyone!

I am a current student at UAlbany who is double majoring in Accounting and medieval studies. I plan on going to law school. I’m doing accounting as a “practical” option, but the pre-law advisor recently told me that law schools prefer liberal arts degrees, and I’m certain that I’m going to law school. My passion is medieval studies and classics, and UAlbany has helped me realize this passion. However, UAlbany is not really a school that I want to be at, as I hate the school itself but love my academics. (My favorite part is the wide array of interesting classes). I’m looking to transfer, and have been thinking about doing it for awhile. My two biggest problems are A. cost and B. distance. I’m from the Albany area. I thought about transferring to Siena college and applied and even got in for the history program, but the merit scholarship aid for transfers is not the best, and I can’t get a lot of need aid because of weird situations going on with my family’s income (unless I appeal, which they don’t usually do for transfers). I am an honors student with a 3.81 GPA, but I don’t really care about the prestige of the school I go to, as long as it has cool classes, low cost or good aid, is within 3 hours of Albany, and has a medieval studies or classics major, or classics major and medieval studies minor (it seems like more schools have a classics major than a medieval studies major). I would like some help identifying colleges that have those attributes, because google results are very confusing. If this is really confusing (as it might be lol), then I can clarify anything in the comments. Even a history or english major with a lot of classics and medieval classes would be okay. I would really appreciate any help I could get, as I am at a complete loss at where to look, because google has a lot of results but not a lot of complete information.

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it, and once again, if this is confusing, just leave questions in the comments and I will clarify anything you need to know!

Thanks!

I would get a new advisor. I question either what they are saying or how you are interpreting it.

Everyone has been saying that. My advisor sucks.

But that is what everyone says, not even just my advisor. I’ve talked to law schools who have said that as well. Its because law school is so much reading and writing, they prefer things like english, history, philosophy, and political science.

Law school is VERY expensive so go where you can get the most affordable degree. Is there a prelaw advisor you can contact?
