Before I began college, I started to talk to a potential new friend who lives a few hours from me. There is a major city in between our hometowns. We really clicked over our graduating class’s facebook page for our university, and ran into each other in person a couple times while at school, but lost touch with each other since we different academic and social situations. Right after graduation, I found her through a mutual facebook friend that went to our school and reunited through facebook messenger. This is someone who is really sweet and down to earth and seems like someone I can click with without too much effort. Would it be awkward to ask her if we can meet up at the city that is in between us to hang out at? The school that we both went to is 9-10 hours from each of us.

You can ask anyone anything. Are you asking if it is awkward or odd?
I wouldn’t lead with her with “we haven’t spoken in a real long time but do you want drive a bit and meet up in this city and hang out”.
I would connect on Facebook and start a nice conversation. Maybe connect on snap. Or Skype.
Maybe you guys decide to connect in the city at some point. Until then take it slow like any relationship it would seem a bit forced to jump into the hanging out.
Not sure this covid environment is the best time to suggest that. Perhaps ask to chat over zoom, skype etc. as the next step.
@happy1 I was just dragging this post towards the situation that covid did not exist.
Well covid does exist now and likely will for quite some time. So I’d start with my suggest of starting by suggesting some zoom, skype conversations and then see what happens over time.
