Meh GPA and Class Rank?

My projected GPA, unweighted, at the end of junior year will be 3.8; my unweighted GPA on a 100 point scale will be 91. My class rank will be top 7%. My saving grace might be my taking 6 AP classes, all of which were in the humanities (my strong area), and me doing well (unweighted A's) in them.

Will this significantly hurt me at chance of admission at a Top 20/30 college or a Top liberal arts college (Amherst, Swarthmore, etc.)? Please help, getting nervous.

Dude, you are top 10%, thats not meh. That puts you in range for the top colleges. It doesn’t hurt you, it helps you a little. Its going to depend on the rest of your stuff and why(or if) you stand out.

“My projected GPA, unweighted, at the end of junior year will be 3.8”

Lol? top 10% and 3.8 GPA is not meh.

Rank is far, far more important than GPA. GPA is meaningless without rank. Your rank is competitive. Get over yourself and focus on keeping your grades up and excelling in your ECs.

That is a great class rank, but for schools like Amherst and Swarthmore, it should really be higher.

Im not questioning you cortana, but out of curiousity, what kind of qualifications do you have?

What sort of qualifications are you referring to? Knowledge of admissions? Academics?

Qualifications to make the claims you’re making. Which would clearly not be academics given that you made a claim about admissions.

Anyway, while being within the top 10% makes the OP competitive, being in the top 5% would be better. That said, top 10% is still competitive and plenty of people who aren’t in the top 5% get into great schools.

@cortana431- Here, academic wise.
