Seriously, there are few people like halcyonheather who say that. And I agree with it.

I (a non-believer) agree that it is not inconsistent to believe in God and believe in evolution. One can believe that evolution IS the work of God. So I don’t think the writer is saying anything about evolution with their original statement. Still don’t think OP should use it, though.

No. Evolution is not relevant to my statement. It bothers me how people seem to automatically assume so many things when the word “religion” or “God” comes up. It’s ignorant, not to mention offensive, whether you are correct about my believing in that or not.

Agreed.

Regradless, my thoughts on evolution are besides the point here.

In regards to my essay, I have already stated:

So I did decide to phrase things a bit differently.

It’s fine. I bet if they deny you a scholarship because of your religious beliefs you could sue them.

^
I’m pretty sure they can deny you a scholarship for whatever reason they want…I don’t think they have to tell you why they didn’t pick you.

You could still sue them because the schools are government institutions if you think you’re obviously more qualified for the position. People have successfully sued colleges for similar reasons of religious injustice, I think.

But you wouldn’t know. Most likely the reader just doesn’t like you quite as much, so you are a little less likely to get the scholarship.
