I’ve heard several mention merit-based aid schools. In fact, some ask why the poster didn’t apply to those schools assuming everyone would/should know about them. This is disheartening for a lot of us, kind of kicks us when we are down. I’m sure I’m one of many who didn’t know about these options. I think many assume that people knew to do their research and many of us didn’t realize we needed to. We should have. Now we know. So for future kiddos, can you list and explain some merit-based schools for those with stellar GPA’s/test scores and not a lot of financial help. Not everyone comes into this knowing all about every college and the different in’s and out’s-- I have been amazed at the wisdom shared on this board. It’s a whole new world for many of us.
That resource already exists. There’s a very useful pinned thread at the top of the thread list that does just as you ask:
Thanks! I thought it would be nice to have a thread with ‘Merit based aid schools’ in the title. Hoping it will catch some unsuspecting browsers and open their eyes before it’s too late! =)

ManyXsBlessed, I understand what you are saying. I lucked into finding this site when my daughter took the PSAT in 7th grade and I googled the score because I had no idea if it was good, bad, whatever. I landed here and boy oh boy it has been an education. There are so many people who don’t have this information, and guidance counselors who are simply not helpful for whatever reason. Hopefully, this will help out some folks.
Thread has been ongoing for years.

Depending on your stats, you may still be able to receive merit awards at some colleges that have late deadlines. What are your stats and what do you want to study?
