What exactly is the Merit Scholarship Criteria at Brandeis University? I realize Brandeis does not meet 100% of Financial Need, so I am concerned who really gets these Merit Scholarships, the advantaged?

Just wanted to point this out–please let me know if you find their criteria on their website.

it's not as if they have SAT/gpa grids that define who gets which scholarship. the best you'll get are anecdotal reports of who may have gotten a scholarship and who thought they had better stats and didn't -- drawing any general conclusions from that as to what they are looking for is probably not going to be productive.

just make sure you submit the CSS Profile if you want to be considered for them since Brandeis specifies that this is required (see above web page).

for what it's worth, i got alot of financial aid, more money than my sister did, and she's going to Dartmouth (which has a huge endowment and pledges to meet 100% of need). And this was early decision, when they can be strategically a little stingy.

^Brandeis does require the CSS Profile for financial aid consideration. I'm not 100% sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was required for scholarship consideration since, even for RD applications, Brandeis needs the Profile by January 15(for ED applications, the Profile deadline is in December..?), whereas most other schools have Feb. 1, or Feb. 15 as their RD Profile deadlines. (If this is incorrect, please correct me.)
