Merit Scholarship Requirements

<p>I was looking at the financial aid information on the OWU website today and I see that the college now requires a 3.0 GPA after four semesters in order for merit scholarship recipients to retain their scholarships. I could have sworn that when my daughter applied to OWU in the fall of 2007 the requirement was 3.5. This was not a make or break deal for my daughter when she made her college decision, but she was admittedly a little wary of the challenge to earn a 3.5 or better in a pre-med curriculum. </p>

<p>When did OWU change their policy (if it did) and what prompted the change? Was the college revoking too many scholarships? Was the requirement proving to be a impediment to recruitment?</p>

<p>I don’t know the gpa required to keep a merit award, but I do know that OWU has in their self study report that they were reducing the amount of discounting that they had done in the past.
