Has anyone here recieved a merit scholarship? I'm just wondering what qualifications I will need in order to recieve a scholarship, as far as SAT scores and GPA / class rank go. Does anybody know the general guidelines for any amount of money?

The merit scholarships at Davidson are pretty specific. I received one for music, which required and application with a tape/resume/letter of recommendation, and then an on campus audition. All of their scholarships are listed on their website. There are other arts scholarships, like the writing and visual arts awards. There are scholarships based on academic achievement in general, but they're pretty tough to come by. There are also the Presidential Scholarships, which are based partially on academics but also on bringing socio-economic and racial diversity to the campus.

There's no qualifying score for any scholarship, as far as I know.. some require special applications, others require nominations, and many you are considered for just by applying. I do know that you can be nominated for the Belk (full ride) award by your high school's counseling office.

This is just the information I gathered from being at Scholars Weekend. The Davidson website goes pretty in depth in terms of merit awards, so definitely check it out.
