Hello all, I am junior petroleum engineering student at an above average school (Penn State). The past few years I’ve developed a strong interest in working on Wall Street. I was recommended to look into masters in finance programs, particularly one year programs. I want it to be from a good institution though as I’ve been looking into MIT. I have around a 3.45 gpa which I feel will really hurt me. But my biggest kicker is the fact that I have zero experience in anything finance. It’s even impossible to get an internship in my field with gas and oil prices as low as they are. I had a really good one set up for summer but just recently found out my offer was rescinded and the company is cutting the intern program. Basically I’m asking if anyone has any advice for me to make myself more competitive. I’m going to start preparing for the GMAT very soon so I can do as well as I possibly can. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
