MFOS Scholarship

When the MFOS scholarship application first came out I had not received it, but my friend told me about it and I realized that I qualified for it. So I contacted the MFOS director and he told me that I wasn’t being considered for it because I was classified as a non-resident of Florida. I quickly changed it and I applied for it and submitted it by 03/26 and I was missing paperwork and they just updated it and “accepted” it by 04/09. What does the “accepted” column mean? That they reviewed it and it just shows that I have all the required paperwork submitted?

I was looking at previous discussions and saw that some people said it was based on first come first serve? Is this true? If it’s true does that mean I have no chance at getting the scholarship now since I submitted it so late? Also, does anybody know if someone who has an EFC of 0 has a higher chance of getting the scholarship?

Also when do we typically find out about the scholarship? Is it before May 1st when we have to accept/decline their offer? Or much later? This scholarship would be an amazing thing to get and would take care of the 10k in loans that I was offered. I have an EFC of 0 and my mom makes $16k a year

I don’t feel like they will hold it against you, as long as you submit it before the deadline which you did.

When it says “accepted”, it means that they’ve recieved all of the needed paperwork, etc.

I’m unsure wether or not it’s first come, first serve since they review all applications regardless.

From what I’ve read, people start finding out within a few days after the deadline.

My EFC is also $0 and they are also offering me about $10k in loans. This really is an incredible opportunity, I hope we both get it!

Also, sorry if my response is scattered, I tried to answer as much as possible.
