I have been accepted to UM as an Undergraduate Sports Management major for the Fall. My worries are that sports management is an incredibly narrow field that may be limited in its job opportunities if a sports profession doesn’t work out. Thus, how is the major in itself and is it worth it to major in sports management as opposed to Business, statistics or economics (with regards to the sports industry)?
@westxsouth I’m pretty sure that UMICH has a sports management program that collaborates with UMICH School of Business. The latter is one of the best business schools in the country. I would check that out. Would be great to do sports management with business minor. Don’t know if that is what you were thinking.
Interesting how 2020 accepted kins students are already starting ask abt changing majors b4 school has even begun in the fall! Makes me wonder… Why would u have not realized this b4 applying? Took spots from others who wanted that program.
You’re probably better off Ross BBA than Kinesiology for actually breaking into Sports Management.
Any time you want to see how good an undergraduate program is
Google the following example:
site:linkedin.com umich sports management -ross
The above searches for UMich students in sports management but excludes those dual degrees with Ross.
Of course, you can do this with almost any other program.
Not a perfect litmus test. Good for non-academic careers that don’t require grad school.
Not everyone keeps their info up to date or even makes a Linkedin profile.
But most likely you won’t find a better indicator.
A little off topic, but it would be great if you could answer my q’s.
Is it easier to get admitted to UMich for Kiniesology rather than LSA? Or are you admitted to LSA first and then then kins?
@Joshwither016 - not sure what your question really means. Kinesiology has become increasingly difficult at UMICH. Are you wanting to get into kinesiology or are you asking which is the easiest way to get accepted to UMICH?
@westxsouth what are u stats just wondering?
Can somebody chance me for early admission this fall?

Any feedback is appreciated!
YES!
Does anyone know with real experience if the school of kinselogy is potentially less numbers heavy (grades, test scores) and makes extra circulars, experience, essays and demonstrated interest more important?
