Alright, so Michigan is a sick school. It was one of my top choices, until I was faced with the intense realization that it's incredibly expensive. Is there any way that Michigan will give me scholarship money if my stats are moderately good, (like 2120 SAT, straight A) GPA? Because realistically, if I'm not getting money from them, then I'm not gonna bother dropping 50 grand a year for it.

No problem. The taxpayers of Michigan will happily supplement your your tuition and R&B costs. They want you to attend and be happy. Just their way of saying “Discover Michigan!” “What can we do to make your stay more comfortable?”
Good Luck.

There are many bitter OOS students who did not get as much as they had hoped, but there are also many OOS students who got as much as they needed. In general though, Michigan is not very generous toward OOS students.

Michmom07, a top student like that would likely be offered significant merit money whether in state or OOS. The Shipman scholarship and Bentley program (IS only) as well as the Stamps scholarship are all possibilities. The Shipman invitations start coming out in early January for a scholarship weekend in March. The others have varying schedules. LSA also has significant merit scholarships for top kids that are awarded (at least in the past) this time of year. Out of state students are also included in some these programs, but admittedly, the offers flow to in state kids a bit more freely.

As much as I hate the fact Michigan gives out more IS aid than OOS, a perfect ACT score is very impressive and will definitely get IS aid and would probably get OOS aid.
