Looking for thoughts anyone has on choosing between Michigan Ross/SM and Georgetown SFS/MSB. I’ve finally narrowed it down to these two after turning down Cornell, a half-ride at WashU, and a full ride to UIUC…
Here’s where my head is at:
Sports are a huge passion of mine and being in the BIG 10 environment and studying Sports Management in conjunction with Business at Ross would be incredible. However, foreign policy and politics is my other biggest passion and so pursuing a joint major in Business and Global Affairs at SFS/MSB at Georgetown is very appealing as well.
Ultimately, I think I will have a lot more fun at Michigan, but feel a lot more fulfilled at Georgetown. I think both will leave me in a great place to achieve success, but I’m struggling to decide between the fun and social life of Ann Arbor and the endless opportunities in DC in terms of internships, etc.
I really don’t know for sure what I want to do in the future, but I kind of feel like I’ll be able to make more of an impact with a truly unique experience at Georgetown that will leave the door open both to the business world and into public policy. Having said that, the sports at Michigan are extremely important to me and studying SM also leaves the possibility of working in a business capacity in the sports industry.
A final thought: the dorms and food at Georgetown are pretty sub-par. I don’t know how much to weigh that because I’m sure I’ll get over it and think it’s a terrible reason not to go somewhere, but I also feel that where you live and what you are able to eat does still matter.
Any thoughts are much appreciated!!! Moreso looking for thoughts on the experience at each school, rather than long-term career trajectory (as I see pathways for success at both), however thoughts on that are welcome as well.
