Middlebrook?

I know that Middlebrook is on the West Bank, and most of the mathematics and engineering classes (I’m going for physics/engineering, so a large number of my classes will be these types) are on the East Bank. What I’m wondering is how much of a hassle is it to go from Middlebrook over to the East Bank? Middlebrook right now is my first choice, but if it’s going to be difficult to be constantly going back and forth I may want a closer dorm.

On a random side note, I’m almost positive I know you Lindsey. Haha. This is going to seem weird, but do you have a teacher named Mr. Massey?

michaelr1992…It really just depends on what you consider to be “difficult”. To walk from Middlebrook to the East Bank buildings takes about 10-12 minutes across the Washington Ave. bridge. If you choose to walk, 90% of the bridge has a covered walkway to keep you out of inclement weather. Many students also use bikes to get back and forth across the bridge. You can take the campus shuttle bus if you don’t feel like walking/riding, but depending on the time of day, etc. you may have to wait a few minutes to catch one. You can also use the city bus system as several routes run through the West Bank. You can pay on an individual ride basis, or U of Minn students can get a discounted student pass for unlimited city bus/light rail usage for $97 per semester. When D1 and I toured Middlebrook in January, we were told that many students hop on a city bus to a shopping center with a Cub Foods and a Target store to buy food/supplies, and taking the light rail line down to the Mall of America is a nice escape as well so the pass is probably worth the money.

^^ What Wolverine said! The East Bank is overated anyways lol. Some of my classes are on the West Bank and I feel it is much nicer than the East Bank. It takes me longer to get from the superblock to coffman when I use the tunnels. There is no way I am going to freeze outside when I can be nice and warm inside. Even if the walking time takes longer.
