There is a list of 52 schools that participate in this MSEP program. I cannot find anything that definitively states that there are any real criteria other than "enrolling" in it.

Anyone know more about the criteria for this? Does the student need a certain GPA or ACT score in HS? Is it just first come first served?

I do know that it's restricted to certain majors. Thankfully, it hits a couple my sons are interested in. It's a very nice discount for OOS students in certain states at these schools.

Any knowledge anyone can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, upon further review, it appears each school is allowed to have separate criteria. Some allow all comers, others require a certain GPA/ACT combo. Some exclude certain states, others don’t. Some lists of applicable majors are longer than others. Very interesting.

I don’t have direct knowledge about MSEP but I don’t think you enroll in it. Here are UWSP and UW-Milwaukee web pages that both say you just apply, get accepted and you will be eligible for the MSEP rates. You could check for similar pages at schools you are interested in. Use the search function at school websites and put in MSEP. You likely have to provide some kind of doc that shows you are an IL resident. I don’t think there are any GPA/test score requirements beyond getting accepted.

Cross posted with you. You’re on the right track figuring it out.

BTW annoyingdad - we’ve decided to stick with our trip to Miss St and Murray State - and catch NMU and UWSP in the fall or something. I’ll let you know how it goes.
