lol well back to the dark ages huh?
in the middle ages they thought milk caused sore stomachs and various illnesses lol.

I don't drink milk either...there's so much chemical residue...... and one number you really don't want to know is the parts per million of blood, mucus, and pus present. Soy milk really is the way of the future.

Plus it's energy smart to drink soy milk. The amount of energy required to make cow's milk vs soy milk is like 5:1.

ew... haha soccerfanatic that was pretty nasty.

i really like soy milk :). ever since my dad has become a health freak, he`s gotten me hooked onto health foods such as soy cubes, tofu, granola, muesli, kashi...the list goes on :P.

my mom always scoffs at the ads that talk about how milk helps you lose weight and stuff..she says it actually isnt true. does milk really make you gain weight?

Milk doesn't help you lose weight, but the milk companies don't want you to know about it despite the fact that they discontinued their ad campaigns.

Wow... a lot of anti-milk sentiment on CC. I like real milk better than soy milk anyday. You people need to take a step back and look at your lives... honestly... what's this world come to? People no longer give milk the respect it deserves.

Actually, if you look at the first page of this thread, the vast majority claims to "love" milk. I personally don't, and that's my decision. No need to launch a crusade... honestly.

Believe me, even a 10% milk disapproval rating is too much! I'll fight until it's zero!

That's impossible because a lot of people are lactose intolerant. I've read somewhere that 85% of asians, for instance, are LI. Soy milk is a good alternative, but none of the nasty stuff in the stores. It's better if you make it yourself

" what's this world come to? People no longer give milk the respect it deserves."

^^^^ lol i still think people respect it.

Since I can't metabolize grass properly, I'll go for milk thank you... (and ice cream, and cheese, too. Mmm... raw milk Charles VII camembert).

milk makes me sick.
I hardly ever drink it, so my system just isn't used to it.

hooray water and orange juice!

Hey! I know what nicotinamide adenine dinoucleotide is! I actually learned something in bio this year. But anyway, yeah, milk is sooo freakin good. After that 3 a day thing started coming on, I just draank and draaank like there was no tommorow...until they said too much could make you GAIN. So i slowed down. But about the carcinogens and blah blah, there's always organic.

Wow, I love how ignorant PETA and their activists are on the whole. Okay, so, KFC may buy chickens from some farm which "abuses" its chickens, but does that mean I'm not going to eat there? Am I going to go over to Popeye's or Church's Chicken as a result? I think not. On the same note, should I stop drinking milk because farmers squeeze cow udders too hard and those milking machines are inhumane? I don't think so. Organic milk may be healthy, but cow's milk is much more healthy in terms of vitamins and minerals to prevent osteoporosis and the coagulation of blood, among other things. If you don't believe me, look it up in a medical journal, kiddos - it was in the New England Journal of Medicine or JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) a few months ago, I can't remember which. And, fudgemaster, where did you find the statistic that 85% of Asians are lactose intolerant? I'm positive that it's false. It's not that I hate people who don't drink milk or drink something else, such as organic soy milk, but I just can't imagine dipping an Oreo cookie in that stuff.

That's not ignorance, Aboo. Idealism, maybe. I don't particularly approve of PETA's tactics, but I don't think that not wanting to pay for cruelty could ever be considered ignorant. I stopped drinking milk for health reasons, and because I didn't like the taste, but I have nothing but respect for people who alter their lifestyles to reflect their ethics.

Organic milk is cow's milk, by the way--all it means is that the cows are treated marginally more humanely.

Okay, makes sense, but I'm just curious - for which health reasons did you stop drinking milk? Last time I checked, it wasn't considered unhealthy.

I don't have any specific data for this, but it just feels healthier. I noticed that when I wasn't drinking milk I felt lighter, more alert, and less sluggish. I figured that, since I didn't even like the taste of it, I might as well stop drinking it completely.

I've lost a few pounds, too, but that's probably a coincidence.

Fair enough, whatever floats your boat.

I've lost some weight too, and I can get by better on less sleep (although that might be the vegetarianism part rather than the no dairy part). I also had the best track season ever.

I can attest to the same, limiting dairy products has helped my daughter tremendously. She has always suffered from upper respitory infections, minor colds develop into major chest congestion that used to linger for weeks. Finally, we almost eliminated all milk (she used to eat a lot of yogurt and ice cream, some cheese, and milk in cereal almost every day). She feels so much better this past year. Sniffles come and go, no coughing and much less school missed! For her, it was definitely a good move....but everyone's different. If you suffer, I recommend trying to cut down on dairy products as one part of the solution.

Oh it's also helped a few people I know with acne too
