Can anyone tell me more about Millbrook? Any positive or negative feedback would be great. I am thinking about applying there for my sophmore boarding year. Thanks! :)

Very nice kids, did well in soccer a few years ago. I would recommend it to most people seeking a good alternative to the high pressure Elite schools etc. There is a very calm atmosphere there.

What is your resume like?

4.0 GPA, 67 percentile ssat scores, many extracurriculars, president of future business leaders of America, one of youngest members of high school color guard, top 5% of my class. i believe the only thing that holds me back is my ssat scores. also i am from alabama which is very unrepresented.

Don't worry, your SSAT scores are fine. The kids you are compared to in SSAT percentiles are the cream of the crop of acadamia, so a 67 means you are better than most of the very qualified students who take this test.

What do you want in a boarding school?
How many students?

well i already got late acceptance to miss porter's this summer so something small-ish. i think maybe no more than 500 students

Do you play any sports that you would like to continue with at boarding school at a competitive level?

soccer probably, but im also interested in other sports such as tennis, field hockey, basketball, ect. im very open to learning new things

Ok here are some schools you should also check out:

Pomfret-
Upper Connecticut
In a lot of ways like Millbrook
Nice, small community
Very warm school (I toured, interviewed and was accepted there)
Nice Campus
Good Academics
Formal Dress Code

Gunnery:
Middle of Connecticut
Nice, Warm Community
Used to be know as a bad academic school, but is now on the move up
Formal Dress Code

Also check out:
Salisbury
Kimball Union

If she got accepted at MPS, Salisbury might not be a good fit...

Wow, I feel so dumb right now that I forgot that. Wow, my bad lol. Sorry, scratch off Salisbury and maybe Kimball Union since I'm not sure why I put it on the list.

Millbrook is a great school. Beautiful campus. It has blossomed during the last 10 years under the leadership of its headmaster Drew Casertano and the Chairman of its Board of Trustrees, Bill McNamara. A ton of capital spent on new facilities, higher faculty salaries etc.

The School is notable for a few things: it has a remarkable community service program where every kid is directly involved in some critical school activity, whether it's running the School Bank or managing the School's "restaurant." Everybody contributes and it creates a great feeling.

I believe that Millbrook has the only accredited high school Zoo in the U.S. For those kids who love animals, you get to learn and take care of any number of exotic animals. It's really incredible.

Academics are excellent. It's not Exeter, but they still send a ton of kids to the top 50 colleges/universities in the U.S., plus a nice share of Ivies. The school atmosphere is welcoming and the kids are genuinely nice.

This is a school whose star continues to ascend.

it sounds really amazing and im pretty sure im applying there. thanks for all your help and anymore feedback would be great

bumping again
