Milton or Middlesex?

I noticed that these school are pretty similar in terms of ranking, academics and sports but very different in terms of the physical aspects and student composition. What are your thoughts on both schools?

I’m sure people will give you lots of opinions, but, honestly, this is EXACTLY the situation in which revisit days can help: 2 schools that look similar on paper, so you get to pick by fit. Unless you really can’t make it to revisit days, the best way to gauge that os to go yourself and spend a day. (If you DO want other people’s views, you can also search the 2 school names on these boards-- all the big schools have threads devoted to them).

Is your kid boarding or day? Only 50% of students at Milton board, it is also closer to downtown Boston and utilizes many of the cities public resources so students “may” enjoy more happenings off campus. Middlesex has a higher % of boarders, and therefore “may” have a more vibrant residential life, idk. Also, from my research Milton seems to have the edge on Middlesex in athletics.

The quoted boarding percentages (50% at Milton and 73% at MX) actually show that they have similar numbers of boarders, if not more at Milton. Milton also seemed to have larger dorms so @LivingInTheNow‌ I don’t think that’s a huge deal.

The biggest difference I noticed while touring and interviewing at the two school other than the difference in percentages in boarders and day students (which is a huge difference and could be a deciding factor) was the feel of the campuses. At MX I felt it was a more enclosed smaller community while Milton was a larger, more open campus with not as much of a close knit community. It is entirely your opinion though and you will notice of you decide to tour either campus.
